  FBW appointed to design new United Nations court facilities in Arusha

The project for the new UN Mechanism for the International Criminal Tribunal (MICT) is underway in Arusha, Tanzania. FBW is part of an international consortium with Ridge and Partners from UK and GMP Consulting Engineers from Tanzania that was selected by the UN for the design and delivery of this important new facility that includes a new court building, an office complex and archive, on a prominent hilltop location outside Arusha.

  Winning masterplan for National Teacher's College

In a demonstration of our understanding of the needs of education projects in the region, FBW was pleased to be awarded the winning design for the Tubes Architecture Competition for Abilonino CPIC National Teacher's College that was jointly run by the Ministry of Education and Sports and BTC in Uganda. The masterplan features administration buildings, teaching spaces, courtyards, covered outdoor 'rooms', dormitories and staff housing.

Our new learning resource centre is nearing completion. The 3000m2 facility has been selected to host support offices for the upcoming African Development Bank annual meeting to be held in Kigali in May.

  Tanzanian police developments underway

Final designs have been completed and submitted for the Oysterbay Police Headquarters and associated residential projects in Dar es Salaam, in association with WELLAA Architects and MEKON Engineers in Tanzania. The projects are being developed as the initial phases of the Mara Oysterbay City. Located within the main development is the police station providing a new facility covering over 3,500 m2. The related housing project at Mikocheni features 20 detached senior officer houses for the Tanzanian Police Force, whilst the Kunduchi Apartments feature 11 apartment blocks covering over 25,000m2.

  Protea hotel project development persevering

Our new extension to the Protea Hotel in Entebbe has received building approval. The expansion of this existing hotel provides 100 rooms and suites built in three blocks sitting along the Lake Victioria beachfront. The construction is expected to commence on site this month, with FBW providing technical oversight and project management services.

  FBW director appointed as Norway's Consul to Rwanda

Congratulations to Rob Woffenden who adds his appointment as the Norwegian Honorary Consul General in Rwanda to his existing role as Director of Engineering for FBW in Rwanda.
