Phase I of Plot 22-26 Kampala Road development nears completion

In one of the most prominent locations in Kampala, the Phase I of our new office development for Meera Investments is nearing completion. The design provides an understated and timeless intervention along Kampala's main thoroughfare that blends the new development into its surroundings with rhythmic window openings repeated through the façade and a retail base has been clad with black galaxy granite.

  Strawtec project underway in Rwanda

FBW has always been committed to providing sustainable building solutions. It is therefore particularly interesting for us to be involved in a new Strawtec production facility in Kigali's Special Economic Zone, where we have been appointed for full multi-disciplinary design and construction supervision services. Strawtec uses an innovative process that utilises straw by-products to produce a boarding system for use in the construction industry. This is highly versatile yet 100% recyclable and bio-degradable. The new facility will be one of the largest production facilities in Rwanda. The project is expected to be on site later this year with full production beginning early next year.

  FBW's MEP Department wins accolades

Congratulations to Nicholas Bukorovic, FBW's Head of M&E Engineering for attaining the prestigious honour of being elected as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL).

Congratulations also to Phillip Dobson, our Senior Mechanical Engineer based in our Kampala office, on becoming the first LEED associate in Uganda. Phil will be promoting FBW's green credentials in a new initiative aimed at encouraging our clients to consider the benefits of sustainability and green planning in their buildings.

Tree planted in memory of Henry Ongola

We are deeply saddened to inform you that Henry Ongola passed away after a traffic accident near our Kampala office in June. Henry has been a valued member of the FBW team in Uganda since 2008 and he will be truly missed. A tree has been planted at the FBW Uganda premises in his memory and staff members have been active in erecting a traffic warning sign in order to try and prevent such tragic accidents being repeated in the future.
